Bad Clone is cool beachpop video by The Los Muskitos

After two months of its first EP, ‘family’ lo-fi formation, The Los Muskitos releases its first Music video, and Bad Clone is more than experimental.

The Rözge brothers are awesomely productive: 2 months after the premiere of their lo-fi formation, The Los Muskitos – founded by 12 years old (!) Milos – released its first ever music video. As I wrote before: ‘Muskito Face, the introductory album of Milos is quite promising, especially if you think about where you were at the age of 12. It sounds like an 80’s gaming room where the sound of PCs and C64 logo is the foundation… Although we feel like this work is mostly an experiment, it is a bloody good one. If you add this to the age of the creator, it really adds up to an introduction which shows immense potential.’

So, here is ‘Bad Clone’, which is more than an experimental clip. It’s the potential as I predicted. I can say it’s an absolutely radio-friendly song with its guitar-layer and with the playsome lyrics in Maxim’s mild voice. Shooting a music video on the seashore of Israel is also a smart decision and it helps the song becoming more catchy. And furthermore, that’s how Maxim becomes more and more like The Verve’s, Richard Ashcroft. Funny, but it’s true, you can see it if you watch the music video:

I asked Maxim about the song creation process. He said the whole track was prepared only one day after Milos released its first version. ‘I’ve made some modifications, wrote an instinctual and simple lyrics plus I decided to add a guitar theme that would fit the rest of the song. The main conception of The Los Muskitos is creating music as natural as we can, where the first instinct is the best, no immoderation. I guess we can keep this line.’ – explained Maxim.

He also said that editing the video took more time. ‘It’s been planned. I was in Israel for the third time, I really like the country, the people there, so I wanted to set a music video there. We were filming mostly in Eilat and a bit in Tel Aviv with my brother’s, Borisz’s VHS-camera.’ – he mentioned some backstage details. Well, I guess if a VHS camera is not vintage enough for you, then nothing is.
