Perfect Pill takes us to a superhero movie

It’s been a while since we wrote about Perfect Pill. They’ll release a brand new album immediately, and here comes a preview: ‘Maze’. Exclusive premiere.

We started 2016 with a Perfect Pill‘s song premiere: ‘Hangover’ was a cool start for a new year. Now, it’s 2018, and here we are again with a new material, ‘Maze’ from them. But in these two years, the band has improved a lot. The noisy-dirty guitar sounds stay but the music became more sophisticated. I have to say the guys got over the #postgrunge, now they clearly have their own characteristic. Listening to their guitar-solos, you feel like it’s a messy improvisation, but it’s more than that, it’s a well-assembled masterwork with gentle layer-alignment. It’s the same with lyrics. They are moving towards from a (youthful) naivety to a self-critical, more compound complexity.

And I have to praise the attention given to the visualization as well. Making a really unique lyric video is almost impossible nowadays. Too much noise, too much of the same material, you know. But ‘Maze’ is an awesome exception. It’s like a headline (or an ending) scene from a superhero or some kinda animated movie. So if you listen to it, this time, do it in full-screen mode.

‘We are getting older, we were moving from the life of careless university students to the working class, one of us was married then. So yeah, it’s a real reposition and changing our bass guitar player was also a huge step, our music became more progressive.’ –  summarized the past 2 years  Levente Szabó, frontman of Perfect Pill. He added that they had so many conversations about the title of the forthcoming EP, and they realized that the whole material is about searching the path. ‘So, Maze – a labyrinth is a pertinent metaphor which is also a good symbol for the turns and twists in our lives.’ – he said.

The new songs were mastered and produced by Gábor Nóniusz and designer, Simon Hukaya was the creative editor of this mind-blowing music video (and EP-cover as well). So, the band tries to rev up the engines after almost a hard year of preparation – they wanna go touring as much as they can.
